A Chinese HeartGold adventure
Pokemon Origin HeartGold, originally 起源心金, is a Nintendo DS ROM hack of Pokemon HeartGold. 雁南飞TB (Yannanfei TB) created the original hack. Later v4.0.x development is credited to Alex (罗湖陈浩南a), using hg-engine. The v4 introduction records permission from the original author for that remake.
Its story draws on the anime, Pokemon Origins and Pokemon Adventures, with original connecting plots and quests. It starts in Pallet Town in Kanto and moves into Johto later. It is a substantial story and progression change, not simply a harder version of the original HeartGold.
A history before the English release
Public gameplay footage identified v1.3 in May 2022. The original creator announced a major formal edition in June 2023 and a completed edition in February 2024. Those milestones establish a history of development, not a precise date when work first began.
The original completed edition described Anime, Origins and Special protagonist variants. Those historical editions should not be confused with the starter-dependent paths documented for v4.0.3.
The English translation
A separate fan translation project, associated with u/kakapipi and collaborators, brought the game to English-speaking players in late September 2026. It used AI-assisted first-pass translation followed by review and player feedback. English v1.0.0-rc8 was released on 13 October 2026, based on Chinese v4.0.3.
The team reports all 67,078 translatable strings in English with automated checks. This does not mean every branching story path has been played through. RC7 adds optional difficulty settings, while RC8 corrects further story, battle, tutor and evolution issues; the changelog distinguishes these from the underlying game.

Some scenes contain swearing, dark humor and violence. The tone can differ from the mainline games. This reference preserves the substance of the documented quests rather than presenting the game as an official Pokemon release.
