A journey that begins in Kanto

Pokemon Origin HeartGold starts in Pallet Town. Familiar people and places appear in a different order, with stories inspired by the anime, Pokemon Origins and Pokemon Adventures alongside the hack’s own scenes. Johto opens after your first Kanto championship and the story that follows; that first championship is not the end of the adventure.

The walkthrough follows Kanto, the Sevii Islands, the League, Johto and later story chapters. Geographic chapters also contain events that unlock much later, so check the requirements on each quest.

Three starting paths

Choose Pikachu, Charmander or Bulbasaur at Oak’s Lab. Your choice changes some scenes, gifts and side quests. Gender, earlier decisions, party members and the weekday can matter too. These restrictions belong to individual events; a starter-specific reward does not always make the whole quest exclusive.

The early-game guide covers send-off gifts before Viridian, the three thief events, and the first missable rewards. Use its filters to follow your chosen starter.

Quests with lasting consequences

Talk to people, revisit familiar places and pay attention to their conditions. Some rewards disappear after a story scene. Others depend on a choice made hours earlier. The S.S. Anne crisis is one example of a decision with consequences beyond its first chapter.

The guides retain exact answers, alternatives, requirements and recovery advice. Known issues separates documented risks from harmless or unreachable events. Make ordinary in-game saves and keep backups before irreversible decisions.

A different Pokemon roster

The game includes later-generation Pokemon, Fairy typing and changes to types, stats, Abilities, moves and evolutions. For example, Conkeldurr is Fighting/Rock here. Familiar franchise data is not always the right reference for this game.

Use the Pokedex to check each Pokemon’s actual stats, learnsets and acquisition conditions. Unavailable and battle-only forms are identified; appearing in the list does not mean a Pokemon can be caught.

Forms and evolution

Some held items change a Pokemon’s form. With Charizardite, Charizard becomes Mega Charizard Y with a Timid or Modest nature, or Mega Charizard X with another nature. Other documented forms include Armored Mewtwo and Ash-Greninja.

These are the item-based forms in v4.0.3. Future 4.1 plans are not included as playable features. Many old trade evolutions have changed requirements, while the level-up changes introduced in English RC6 let Boldore evolve at Lv. 35 and Gurdurr at Lv. 40. In RC8, leveling up Petilil with a Black Belt by day directly gives Hisuian Lilligant. Ice Stone and Dragon Scale can be used from the Bag for their documented evolutions.

Party training and capture chains

With SHARE ON, battle participants receive full EXP and benched party members receive half; both receive EVs. English RC8 lets you turn SHARE OFF: participants and held Exp. Share users still receive their intended EXP and EVs, while other benched Pokemon receive neither. The optional CAP setting limits battle EXP. ITEMS DEFAULT / ALL controls the Trainer-battle Bag selection. These settings are independent and also apply in story battles you may lose. The EV Allocator redistributes points already earned rather than adding new ones.

Catching the same species and form builds a chain. Bonuses change after 6, 10 and 20 completed catches, affecting perfect IVs, Hidden Ability selection and an extra shiny check. The extra check’s odds are not an exact overall shiny probability. Mechanics and controls explains the qualifications and reset rules.

More information while you play

Press L on the Pokemon summary’s stats/moves page to see IVs and EVs. Y, or the touch-screen information button, opens battle information. These refer to DS controls; use your emulator’s assigned buttons.

The game supports up to six visible wild Pokemon nearby, with visual and audio cues for visible shinies. Catch one before restarting: an ordinary save does not preserve it indefinitely.

Moves, machines and teachers

There are 130 TMs and 8 HMs in the reference catalog. Field actions can have Badge and story requirements even when you do not need to teach the corresponding move. Tutor lessons have their own costs, compatibility and conditions.

Use the machine catalog, move tutors and field-move table for the exact requirements.

English RC7 and RC8 improvements

The patch retains TEXT SPEED and evolution-move fixes from RC6. RC7 adds difficulty settings and fixes zero-PP Struggle, Lugia’s entrance and losses in Rock Tunnel and Pokemon Tower. RC8 fixes the Victory Road arch, tutor lessons, Petilil’s Hisuian evolution and several prices and story scenes. Some original-game risks remain, including the S.S. Anne Honey/Blue softlock and the permanent loss of a loaned Pidgeot.

RC8 remains a release candidate. The Victory Road correction was confirmed on melonDS and a DS Lite; other hardware and Delta remain untested. That specific check does not certify every console, emulator or story branch.
